COLOMBIAColombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is located in the northwestern region of South America. Colombia borders in the east on Venezuela and Brazil; in the south on Ecuador and Peru; in the north Colombia has access to a long stretch of the Atlantic Ocean, through the Caribbean Sea; and in the west Colombia borders on Panama and the Pacific Ocean. Furthermore, Colombiashares maritime borders with the Caribbean countries of Jamaica,Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Central American countries ofHonduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Colombia is the 26th largest nation in the world and the fourth largest country in South America (after Brazil, Argentina, andPeru), with an area more than twice that of France.
After Brazil, Colombia is the second country with most biodiversity in the world but in relation to its area it is actuallly number one. Thanks to this, Colombia has many species that only exist there. Consequently, the view of Colombia from an environmental point of view is very important for the international community.
