The PETRONORDelegation "Learningfrom theNorwegianExperience",organized by the Colombian Nordic Chamber of Commerce, took place in Norway on June 11-19in the cities ofOslo, Bergen and Stavanger.Norway representsa soundexample ofgood managementin oil exploitation.40 yearsago, Norway discovered oil offshoreand establishedstrict policiesforthe oil companies.With a production of2.3 millionbarrels a day, Norway is the 5thlargest exporter ofoilworldwideand theindustry is atthe forefront bothin technology andenvironmentalprotection.

The delegation consisted of 22persons from differentcompanies from the Colombian oil industry.Thedelegation’smainobjective wasto learn fromNorway’s successful experiencein developinganindustryaround thediscovery ofoil andgasoffshore. While inNorwaywe visitedseveral companies,includingAkerSolutionsand ArcherWell,and state agenciessuch as the Ministry ofPetroleumand Energy, thePetroleumSafety Authorityand the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.A business networking was also heldwithNorwegian companiesfrom the petroleum sector.
